MORE than £1,000 has been raised for charity by housing staff who did the Great North Run.
Four Gladedale employees completed the world's biggest half-marathon on Sunday, in aid of Kidney Research UK and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
The North East England team was supported by cheering colleagues, friends and families throughout the 13.1-mile course from Newcastle to South Shields.
Richard Jones, regional sales director for Gladedale, which is building homes in West Boldon, said: "The atmosphere was incredible – I believe there was a record of 54,000 participants – and this really helped to finish the race.
"The money raised will be of great help for the worthwhile charities which are close to the heart of each member in the Gladedale team.
"My mother-in-law suffers from kidney disease, and I know that the funds will help improvements in treatment."
