HUNDREDS of men, women and childen protested on the steps of South Shields Town Hall today against the conflict in the Gaza strip.
The peaceful demonstration included dozens of children taken out of school to highlight the plight of youngsters being killed in the violence.
Some held banners reading Peace In The Middle East and Stop The Killing, while others chanted in English and Arabic.
Organiser Coun Ahmed Khan said he was delighted with the turnout, adding: "It is obviously a big unifying event. The violence has to stop now."
