A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of firing an air weapon at car park signs.

Officers were called to Mangos car park, off the Coast Road, South Shields, at around 5.45pm on Saturday.

A 15-year-old boy from Jarrow is alleged to have been firing an airgun out of the window of a car at nearby traffic signs.

He was arrested and charged with having an air weapon in a public place, and will appear before South Tyneside Youth court at a later date.
