Don't panic just yet

WELCOME to another Premier League campaign and another Point of Fosters.

This season I will be blogging my thoughts on the glorious red and whites (let's hope they are glorious pretty soon) rather than putting them in print.

To be honest, we haven't got off to the best of starts – a draw and a defeat, and let's be fair while the Carling Cup win over Colchester United was a case of job done, that was all it was (we were average and that's being kind).

Still, I'm refusing to join in with the mass hysteria that seems to be infecting so many supporters.

Apparently after two league games we are in real trouble – and God forbid, if we don't sign someone before the end of the current transfer window then we might as well just throw in the towel.

Oh, but before we do that we should sack Steve Bruce – really?

The same Bruce that brought Darren Bent to Sunderland? The same Bruce that took us to 13th place last season?

Come on get a grip.

I'm not a fan of everything Bruce does – I think we got it wrong in selling Kenwyne Jones without a ready made replacement.

I think more should have been done to give us more shape in the middle of the park.

But hey Everton and Liverpool are below us in the table after two games, and do you think anyone is shouting for David Moyes or Roy Hodgson to get the bullet.

Time for a reality check think.

I never yet a football manager who didn't enjoy spending money on new players (and I've met a few), so methinks that it's no surprise that purse strings may have been tightened behind the scenes.

Look everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it's not the same as mine (only joking), but let's not panic unless we need to.

I could be wrong, but unless something changes I can't see there being a last-minute mad rush for us in the transfer market.

Still, that's not the end of the world.

There's definitely room for improvement, but you have to wonder whether everyone would have been so quick to say get rid of Bruce if Martin O'Neill wasn't out of work.

Keep the faith – after all what else are you going to do? Give it all up and go shopping?
