Buy photos to help hospice

READERS will be familiar with the many smashing old photographs of the mid-Tyne area that are shared with us by Norman Dunn.

Norman has built-up an amazing collection on his website - www.norman.dunn247.com.

Take, for example, this lovely snap of Jarrow Girls' Choir, seen in about 1946, which reached him from Irene Brewster (nee Mason).

Well now there's an opportunity to see more of Norman's pictures while helping a very worthy cause.

He and his family have been so impressed by the wonderful care that a family member has been receiving at St Clare's Hospice that he's decided to help with a bit of fundraising.

He has put together a slideshow DVD called Old Jarrow & Its People, with more than 650 images on it. He has donated 100 to start with, for sale at 10 each, with all the money going to St Clare's.

He hopes it will raise 1,000 very quickly, with possibly more to follow .

If you would like a copy of the DVD, pop in to St Clare's, in Springwell Road, Jarrow, or telephone 451 6378.
