Hull boss came home to do GNR

HULL City manager Phil Brown was among one of the many famous faces who pounded the Great North Run course today.

And it was an extra-special day for him, as it was the first time he has tackled the run, which finishes in his home town of South Shields.

He told the Gazette: "Ever since I stood cheering on the runners on John Reid Road when the run first began I've wanted to take part.

"The weather was fantastic this year. I feel knackered, but I'm glad I've done it."
