Uproot trees to save money
WE have recently seen workers attempting to level out paving stones in the street.
You cannot prevent a tree producing more roots, which inevitably push out and lift more paving stones.
These are an ongoing source of potential damage for pedestrians. There could be some compensation issues involved.
It makes economic common sense to remove the trees once and for all.
It would certainly seem to make more financial sense than the authorities spending a load of cash on tipping over gravestones.
