What's Labour frightened of?
UNLIKE most of your correspondents on Thursday, July 9, on the letters page, I have been in the public gallery of the council chamber and witnessed the behaviour of Labour Mayors and Labour councillors when people like Allen and Jane Branley speak up for the residents of the borough.
Most Labour councillors never say a constructive word, but they are ready to shout and yell at anything the Branleys say.
The abuse has got worse as more independent councillors are elected.
What is the Labour Party frightened of?
What is it they do not want the people of South Tyneside to know?
Well, they don't want us to know what has happened to the 18 ballot boxes.
This is just the tip of the iceberg; we haven't got on to the expenses scandal yet.
Anyone who gets up in the council chamber and questions anything the Labour group is doing are shouted down.
It is disgraceful in a country which is famous for its democracy, the Labour group will try to stop elected councillors speaking up for those who elected them.
I totally agree with Allen Branley's resignation.
It is time the whole borough knew what is going on so that they can get rid of the national political parties that are unconcerned about
the people of this borough.
