CHILDREN at a South Tyneside school have been dressing down for charity.
The youngsters, at Forest View Primary School, in Rembrandt Avenue, Whiteleas, South Shields, are hoping to raise more than £300 from their non-uniform day, which took place on Friday.
The money will go towards the National Deaf Children’s Society, and local charity Cancer Connections, which is based in Harton Lane, South Shields.
As part of the event, home-made cupcakes were on sale to pupils, parents and staff.
The non-uniform day was the second fundraiser at Forest View since it opened last September to replace the town’s Temple Park junior, Temple Park infants and Albert Elliott primary schools.
Bernice Golding, school secretary, said: “The children enjoyed coming to school in non-uniform and they really got into the spirit of the event.
“We are hoping to raise more than £300 for two very good charities.
“We did a fundraiser for Children in Need last year, and everyone at the school has done very well.”
Forest View Primary School has 294 pupils, and was built on the former Albert Elliott Primary School site at a cost of £5.6m.
