A poem for tragic Ivan
ON THE death of Ivan Cameron, six years old, the son of Opposition leader David Cameron and wife Susanna. He suffered from cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
Unchained from the nights of sorrow
and the pain and suffering too,
No more prayers unto the morrow,
all is daybreak now with you.
No more trouble with a body,
like the children, you are free.
No more trouble with a body,
only joy in liberty.
Now you range the cosmic places,
a spirit glorious and free.
No more trouble with a body,
unencumbered ecstacy.
We fools below may doubt your glory,
Heaven, it seems, no certainty,
but those who've met the Christ,
know after death there's life for free.
Life's for free but death's traumatic,
life's a gift but death's a due.
We all owe God a death, but truly
there's life and then there's life anew.
