Soaking spoiled our afternoon
MY husband and I attended a bikers' rally near Souter Lighthouse earlier this month, organised by the South Shields-based Tyne Phoenix Motorcycle Club.
Excellent rally, folks, by the way, so well done. We are both keen bikers and travel far and wide.
On Saturday, June 6, we went into town by taxi and and were walking along looking for somewhere to eat after doing a bit of shopping.
We were going past South Marine Park when some neds – that's what we call non-educated delinquents in Scotland – deliberately slowed down in their blue car by a large puddle, then sped off soaking both me and my husband, much to the amusement of some other young neds passing by us on foot. Not funny.
The incident happened so fast that I didn't get the registration number of the car, so I couldn't report it to the police.
If this had happened to an elderly person, it could have terrified them.
I am naturally furious and I would have loved to have got my hands on the driver.
Locals should watch out for this blue car, as it could be one of you next.
This incident really spoiled an otherwise pleasant afternoon, but it won't deter me from visiting South Shields in the future.
The great thing about motorcycling is that you usually have little contact with this type of lowlife.
