Big turnout in Cleadon & East Boldon

THE biggest turnout of voters in the local elections was in Cleadon & East Boldon, at 48 per cent.

And they overwhelmingly backed Conservative candidate Jeff Milburn, who polled more than twice as many votes as Labour rival Joan Atkinson.

Turnout: 48 per cent.
