Labour lose Horsley Hill seat

INDEPENDENT candidate Gordon Finch won the Horsley Hill seat from Labour by just 41 votes in the first declared result of the 2008 election.
He polled 1,142 votes, to sitting councillor Arthur Meeks' 1,101.

The full result, declared at 12.49am, was:

Horsley Hill
Gordon Hall Finch (Ind) - 1,142
Martin Haskins (Con) - 421
Les Lovelock (BNP) - 376
Arthur Clark Meeks (Lab) - 1,101

Turnout 44.6 per cent

i have to say, i'm gutted Arthur Meeks didnt get in, he along with Ian Malcom and Eileen Leask have done so much for our community i believe if they had gained the seat then horsley hill would have so much to look forward to!!
