POP star Michael Jackson has died, it has been confirmed.
American celebrity news website tmz.com broke the news that the 50-year-old star had suffered a cardiac arrest.

The reports we brought you earlier have now been confirmed.

Jackson was due to perform 50 farewell concerts at London's O2 Arena starting next month, bowing out on an illustrious music career spanning several decades which earned him a fortune.

His death comes just hours after Hollywood actress Farrah Fawcett, who became an icon of 1970s US television, died of cancer in Los Angeles aged 62.

Fawcett is best known for starring in Charlie's Angels.

Her battle with illness was chronicled in the television documentary Farrah's Story earlier this year.
