TEENAGE chart sensation Amy Macdonald releases a new single next week, ahead of a forthcoming Tyneside date.
L.A. is out on Monday, and it's already a mainstay of playlists on Radio 2, Capital and Virgin, as well as many local stations.

It's the follow-up to her hit Mr Rock & Roll, and is also taken from her debut album This Is The Life, which crashed into the charts at No 2 in August.

Amy is a Scottish singer-songwriter who has picked up legions of fans since signing to Vertigo a year ago.

She has supported her childhood heroes Travis, as well as Paolo Nutini, Paul Weller, and - at his personal invitation - Sir Elton John.

She played Glastonbury, a triumphant homecoming set at T In The Park, and opened the main stage at the inaugural Connect festival.

Amy even played gigs at three Scottish castles in one day at the behest of tourism agency Visit Scotland when she launched Mr Rock & Roll.

Now she's embarking on a tour of her own, and several dates have already sold out.

Tickets are still available, however, for her at the Carling Academy 2 in Newcastle on Monday, October 22. They're £8 from (0844) 477 2000.

She has also announced a Christmas show at Glasgow's legendary Barrowlands - a long way from the free coffee shop gigs and open-mic nights she was doing at the start of the year.
