METRO services will be suspended all day tomorrow and Sunday, between Newcastle Airport and the Regent Centre, in Gosforth, Newcastle.
The closure is to allow for the replacement of the level crossing at Fawdon Metro station.

A replacement bus service (number 900) will be in operation between Regent Centre and the airport, and will call at or near all the Metro stations along the route.

All the bus stopping points will be signposted.

The Metro service to Sunderland and South Hylton will start from Regent Centre.

The St James's to South Shields service will remain unaffected.

Passengers heading to the airport are advised to allow extra time to complete their journey.

Metro director Mick Carbro said: "I apologise to passengers for the disruption the work is going to cause. We are getting the job done on a Saturday and a Sunday, while Metro is quieter, in order to inconvenience fewer passengers.

"The work is vital to ensure this section of line remains one of the very best city centre-to-airport connections in the country."

For more information, passengers should contact Traveline on 0871 200 2233 or go to www.nexus.org.uk.
