I WOULD like to comment on your review of the young people's performance of Les Misérables at the Customs House in South Shields (Youngsters Show How It's Done, Gazette, July 8).
I agree it was one of the best performances I have seen at the theatre.

I enjoyed the Saturday night performance as much as your reviewer – so much so that I went again on Sunday and Monday.

I feel that when two different people play a principal part, on separate evenings, that you should review both.

I thought Rachael Branthwaite gave a good performance on Saturday but it was a shame that Claire Whitfield's performance on Sunday and Monday wasn't commented on.

She gave a wonderful comic performance that produced a completely different show.

All the young people need to be applauded for the massive commitment and effort they must have put in to produce such an outstanding show.

Each performance got a standing ovation and everyone came out of the theatre in awe of these talented young people.

Mrs C Maxwell,
Grindleford Court,
South Shields.
