Let children be children

I HAVE now been on this planet for 61 years, but I now feel it is time I left it.
What an accolade for South Tyneside – to be the best in the country at teaching three-year- olds about sex, as reported in the Gazette on Monday, July 7.
Whatever are we doing to our children? Let them grow up in their own time, enjoy their childhood and, soon enough, they will find out about the birds and the bees.
I don't for one minute think that informing them at this age will prevent teenage pregnancies and so on. Exactly the opposite will occur.
Laygate Primary in South Shields, one of the schools in question, should be ashamed of its attitude towards this, and I, for one, am pleased that my grandson doesn't go there.
Get back to basics of life, slow down and let children be children.
