I READ with interest LR Chapman's comments about South Shields MP David Miliband (Gazette, Thursday, October 4).
There are those who were in favour of invading Iraq, and those who were against, and LR Chapman is entitled to his or her opinion, as is everyone else.

I was amused to read the comments about Mr Miliband being "moulded into a safe seat". As LR Chapman is from Jarrow, he/she will not have much knowledge of Mr Miliband's role as MP for South Shields.

Despite his busy schedule, he is in South Shields on a regular basis, visiting different organisations in the town.

In addition to this, every household receives an annual Parliamentary report, updating us on what he is doing for South Shields.

I, like many other Shields residents, have placed my trust in Mr Miliband, and when I needed his assistance, he delivered for me.

Mrs G White,
South Shields.
