THIS is the first time I've written to a local paper, but I feel very strongly about an article, Cash Crisis for Dialysis Centre, published in the Gazette, July 11.
It is disgusting to think this is about saving lives. Being on dialysis keeps sick people and young children alive while hopefully waiting for a donor.

I know from my daughter having two sick children on dialysis and having to travel to the RVI in Newcastle from South Shields, it not only places a lot of pressure on her but also puts the children under a lot of strain.

There is lottery money going on things that may make South Shields look great for tourists, but when sick children and adults need dialysis, what's the first priority?

M Shilling,
New Green Street,
South Shields.
