I WRITE further to your report on Monday, January 19, about calls for the expansion of Newcastle Airport.
How hypocritical of South Tyneside's councillors to support these calls.

On one hand, they want a bigger airport, and then next thing, they want us to tackle climate change with them. I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways.

We are getting this climate change rammed down our throats and I, for one, am trying my utmost to do my bit.

But then you sit down and question whether it's worth it, when our leaders want to pump more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by allowing more planes into Newcastle Airport.

It will be a long time yet before we get 'green' aeroplanes.

Keith Wilkinson,
Fenwick Avenue,
South Shields.
