Album review: Django Django - Django Django

DJANGO DJANGO ... Django Django (Because Music)

DJANGO DJANGO ... Django Django (Because Music)

THIS arty quartet are one of the most hotly-tipped new bands of 2012, with this debut arriving three years after their formation.

At times it’s easy to see why they’ve gained such a favourable reputation, with a handful of tracks striking a perfect balance between nerdy precision and killer hooks.

Excellent single Default is an example, as are synth-heavy 80s throwbacks Hail Bop and Waveforms, but sadly they can’t emulate this form throughout the entire duration.

There’s certainly promise here, but too manY of the songs simply don’t realise it, and large portions of the record pass without making much of an impression.

In fairness, though, their best songs should be more than enough to snare fans of Hot Chip and the like. 6/10. AW
