Madonna announces world tour, including UK dates

WORLD TOUR ... queen of pop Madonna.

WORLD TOUR ... queen of pop Madonna.

FRESH from her record-breaking performance at half-time of the weekend’s Super Bowl XLVI, pop queen Madonna has announced she’s hitting the road again.

The Material Girl turned elder stateswoman of music is embarking on a worldwide tour to promote her forthcoming new album.

MDNA is the 12th studio offering of her near-30-year career, and fans will be hoping it continues the rejuvenation shown on her last record, 2008’s Hard Candy.

The Madonna 2012 World Tour begins on May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, and will stop in 26 European cities, including London and Edinburgh.

The shows will include arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sites, and dates in South America and Australia, where she has not performed in 20 years. The UK dates are in London’s Hyde Park on July 17 and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on July 21.

Tickets, priced £70 and £125 for Hyde Park, and £45 to £125 for Murrayfield (both plus the usual booking fees), go on sale at 10am on Friday from.livenation.co.uk

The tour announcement followed a week in which the video for the first taste of Madonna’s new material, Give Me All Your Luvin, was previewed on YouTube.

MDNA is already No1 on the iTunes charts in many countries, including the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands, even though it’s not released until March 26.

Arthur Fogel of tour promoter Live Nation said: “Madonna’s track record as a world-class entertainer and touring artist speaks for itself.

“Her artistry, talent and creative productions get bigger and better with each tour, and Madonna 2012 will be no exception. We are thrilled to have her back on the road.”
