Scooch star winging his way to Southend
REUNITED ... Scooch, including David Ducasse, second left, are performing at The Sage Gateshead.
A SOUTH Tyneside pop star is flying high after his latest gig offering.
Pop group Scooch are set to entertain special guests at the opening of a new terminal at Southend Airport in Essex.
The champagne reception will take place on February 21.
South Shields band member David Ducasse, 35, said: “We were really pleased to be asked to perform.
“We’ll be able to put on our cabin crew costumes and have a lot of fun with it.
“It’ll be great for us all to get back together, because we’ve hardly seen each other since Christmas.”
The group, who represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with their song Flying the Flag (For You), have a busy year ahead of them, embarking on a 10-week tour of Haven Holiday Parks.
David, founder of Performers Stage School, based at Boldon Community Association, said: “This year is going to be a really busy one for us, but it’ll be great.
“With us being booked up with Haven for 10 weeks, it’s very well organised.
“Normally, when you’re on tour, you’re up and down the country a lot but this follows quite a smooth route throughout.
“We’re all really looking forward to it.”
The foursome have also been recording TV specials for music channel The Vault.
David said: “We all went down to London the other day and filmed four shows for the channel.
“We did one called Scooch Take Over, where it’s all of our songs, Scooch of the 90s, where we chose our favourite songs from the decade, a Eurovision and Christmas special.
“It was a right laugh and we had a lot of fun choosing our songs. It was a great way for us to have a bit of a catch up as well because we haven’t seen each other in a while.”
The shows will be aired over the next year.
