JURASSIC Park brought dinosaurs to life on the big screen in the 1990s.

Now Walking With Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular is doing it for a new generation of amazed youngsters.

Based on the acclaimed BBC documentary series, the 90-minute show has already extensively toured Australia and North America.

It takes the audience back to a time when there was one single continent – Pangea – where there were no humans and the dinosaurs of the Triassic period ruled.

Huxley, the palaeontologist, played by Rob Carroll, then narrates through the Jurassic and Cretaceous period, before the dinosaurs are wiped out by a supposed comet hitting the Earth.

Sadly, his commentary seemed to go over the heads of the children in the audience, and was overshadowed by the magnificent dinosaurs walking the arena floor.

The creatures are so lifelike – if you ignore the human legs operating some of the smaller ones – as they hunt, feed, fight and protect their young.

Not surprisingly, the mighty T-Rex stole the show, but I was also impressed by the flying Ornithocheirus swooping through the air, and the 'gentle' Brachiosaurus.

With tickets priced between 20 and 45, it's far from a cheap night out for the family, but you'll certainly be entertained.

* Walking With Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular is at the Arena until Sunday, July 12.
