There are some familiar faces in today’s pictures.

They include TV personality Keith Chegwin. One of them, taken in July 1981, shows Keith at a Donkey Derby, held at Gypsies Green Stadium. In another, taken seven years later, we can see Cheggers chatting to Sharon Proud, 14, Cheryl Elliott, 14, and Melanie Barnes, 11, all of Harton, when the celebrity brought his show to Bents Park. What was he like?

There is another snapshot from December 1989 when ex-England footballer Jack Charlton was the guest speaker at South Shields Cricket Club’s annual Arndale dinner where he met up with road accident victim Ian Eckert, left, and his brother Craig, right. Also pictured is club chairman Joe Kirkley.

Our other photos feature Les Dennis, who recently left Coronation Street. Both were taken in 1990 when Les visited Bents Park.
