Pipe bands make an impressive sight – as well as a formidable sound – and the South Tyneside Pipe Band will no doubt have ticked both boxes when these pictures were taken.

Snapped in the 1970s and 80s, they show members of the band marching, making friends and being presented with certificates by the Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside.

How many of the kilted band members do you recognise?

Did you used to be one of the pipers or one of the drummers? What are your memories of being in the band and the events the group attended, including the opening ceremony at the Commonwealth Games, in Edinburgh in 1986?

Apparently seven local people travelled to Scotland for the ceremony, were you one of them?
