The fame, and indeed produce, of South Shields butchers Dicksons has spread far and wide – much to the delight of those with a taste for good wholesome food.
Here in their homeland, people talk affectionately about the firm’s choicest foodstuffs, be it saveloys (saveloy dips), pease pudding, pork sandwiches, breaded ham and more.
So I thought you would like to share this selection of pictures, featuring Dickson shops and staff from throughout the years.
Look closer into the shop’s glass-fronted counters and you can see a sample of some of the goodies on sale, including black pudding, pies and, of course, those famous saveloys.
What would you buy for dinner, tea or bait given the choice? Please get in touch with your memories of Dicksons and its staff?
