LIVE REVIEW
FOALS
Newcastle Carling Academy 2

HYPE is a dangerous thing to put around a band.
Sometimes it is so unjustified it is laughable, howeve,r it is fair to say that with Foals, it is spot on.

From the moment they played the first note of their intro track the crowd went ballistic, and it continued in that fashion for the 45 minutes the band were on stage.

Every song was a jerky indie pop gem, but it was Balloons, Hummer, Mathletics and Two Steps Twice that stood out as real crowd-pleasers.

They are some of the best dance-friendly tracks you will hear all year.

However, it was new single Cassius that was the real highlight of the night.

It falls into that "sends a tingle down your spine, you can't help but dance to this" genius category, and I would be very surprised if it isn't one of the top five tracks of the year.

Listen to Foals for just 10 seconds and you'll find yourself dancing.

Their music is stupidly catchy, their on-stage performance is jam-packed with energy and, despite being a new band, they are very tight in their performance.

This year will see Foals get bigger and bigger and easily take the title of party band of the year.

Anyone present at this gig would be able to see why. I can't recommend enough that you check this band out.
