LIVE REVIEW
NEWTON FAULKNER
Carling Academy Newcastle

NEWTON Faulkner. Dreadlocked singer/songwriter and frustrated stand-up comedian.
That was the impression I got as the 23-year-old won over the sell-out crowd with genuine banter between songs.

The songs themselves may have helped too mind, with Dream Catch Me and Teardrop attracting the biggest response.

I must admit I went along to the gig on the strength of these radio-friendly tunes, having sang along to them many times in the car.

It was without a doubt the most laid-back gig I've been to, but worth the windy trip over the Tyne.

Faulkner is clearly a talented singer and guitarist – and he always has his wit to fall back on.
