FOUR years after the Westoe Colts team was revived, it is now bearing fruit with well-drilled young players full of promise blossoming in the senior sides.

And now they have a new fan in the town – fruit and vegetable merchant Dave Hutchinson, a popular character down Laygate way.

Regular customer George Thompson, a Wood Terrace stalwart, told him how the teenagers had distinguished themselves last season by getting into the last eight of teams throughout the country who competed for the National Under-19 Cup.

And he resolved to do his bit to back the lads by buying them a new set of jerseys.

Colts manager Raymond Bays said: "This is a much-appreciated gesture.

"It isn't just the strips, it's the kindness and support behind them that means so much to the players."
