ALBUM REVIEW
EDITORS
In This Light And On This Evening (Columbia)
BRUMMIE gloom-mongers Editors are most commonly compared to Joy Division, such is the dark majesty of their songs, and that's certainly the case on the darker-than-ever opening title track.
From there they take a step from the late '70s into the '80s, and much of what follows sounds like New Order and early OMD to those of us old enough to remember them.
Synths are much more prominent than on their first two albums, to stunning effect in the standout track, Papillon, one of the best songs I've heard this year. 7/10 GW
