The keen runner died last weekend, at the age of 42, leaving family and friends devastated.

On Saturday morning, the 5k seafront run attracted twice as many people as usual, as the running community turned out in force to pay tribute to Mark.

Many wore black and white stripes in memory of the avid Newcastle United fan, and released balloons in the Magpies' colours.
