THE Pride of South Tyneside Awards are back for the sixth year - and we're looking to make this year's better than ever.
Over the years, we've told hundreds of stories of courage, triumph and dedication - and we know there are more out there.

Last year we sang the praises of eight individuals and three organisations.

The audience was moved to tears as Children of Courage Katie Leadbitter and Abigail Young stepped up to receive their awards.

There were also multiple winners in the Carer of the Year category, with Claire Turnbull, Elle Tollett and Andrew Holmes sharing the title.

The awards are organised by the Gazette, South Tyneside Council and the Customs House.

Gazette editor John Szymanski said of last year's ceremony: "It was a superb night of high drama and emotion, as ordinary people doing extraordinary things were recognoised for their achievements."
