X FACTOR hopeful Jade Thirlwall got international recognition when her performance hit TV screens on Saturday.
The 15-year-old, from South Shields, was on holiday in Majorca when her audition aired on the popular ITV1 show.
But she did manage to catch it, as the bar she was in with mum Norma tuned into the show.
And when the St Wilfrid's RC College pupil came on the whole pub whooped and cheered.
She sang Whitney Houston's Where Do Broken Hearts Go in front of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole – fourth judge Dannii Minogue was in Australia – and got a clean sweep of 'yeses'.
Jade said: "It was weird seeing myself on the TV. I was really nervous, but it was great to get three 'yeses'."
Mrs Thirlwall, who was also seen on the show congratulating her daughter with presenter Dermot O'Leary, said: "We didn't know if or when Jade was going to be on the programme, but it was great to see her.
"And when she came on, the whole pub went mad. There was a fantastic atmosphere."
"After the show people were stopping her in the street in Alcudia saying 'I've just seen you on the X Factor'.
"Even in the airport a woman came over and said 'I saw you on the TV – well done' and when we got home people were shouting 'you've got the X Factor'.
Despite auditioning in Birmingham, Girls Aloud star Cheryl realised Jade was from the same neck of the woods, asking 'Are you a Geordie?', to which Jade replied 'I'm from South Shields'.
Jade is now through to Boot Camp, but is staying quiet about what happens next.
Headteacher Christine Wright said: "I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Jade at boot camp. It would be great for her and the school if she gets further."
