YOUNGSTERS have been covering the school walls in 'graffiti' – but received praise, not punishment.
Margaret Sutton School pupils created mock brick walls for Anti-Bullying Week and designed graffiti-style posters.
Children's group Particip8 also came into the school to talk about bullying with Year 8 pupils and the school council.
Avril Godfrey, headteacher at the Ashley Road school in South Shields, said: "They thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"The children feel safe in school, which means they can open up about
things."
Particip8 – which gives a voice to five to 13 year-olds in South Tyneside – also worked with Bamburgh School in Norham Avenue North, South Shields.
Suzanne Thompson, Particip8 project co-ordinator, said: "I think they got a lot out of it.
"We talked about how other people can help to stop bullying by not ignoring it."
