MAKE-up guru Lauren Luke is set to launch her first book next month.

The 27-year-old, from South Shields, shot to fame with her YouTube video tutorials about how to apply beauty products.

Her clips, which attracted more than 12 million viewers, got her recognised by some of the leading cosmetics companies in the world, and her own beauty line – By Lauren Luke, which is now sold in 138 stores in the US and Canada.

The new book, Lauren Luke, will be released in UK bookstores on October 1 – the same day she appears on Channel 4's Paul O'Grady Show, where she will teach the host and comedian Johnny Vegas how to apply make-up.

After a whirlwind year touring New York and Los Angeles, she has settled back in the borough, and has now moved to Jarrow with her partner and 11-year-old son Jordan.

She said: "I can't get over the year I've had, it's been crazy. I've been so lucky.

"I've had a make-up line, but the most scary thing is I've got a book coming out. I can't imagine seeing my book on the shelves.

"The book will feature a range of celebrity looks, everyday looks for the office, as well as casual and bridal looks."

Despite travelling the globe and achieving worldwide recognition, Miss Luke says she's delighted to be back home.

"It's great being back. It's so peaceful here," she added. "It's hard not to get carried away with all the things going on, but I'm determined to keep myself real and not let what I'm doing become a chore. I'm determined to keep enjoying myself.

"I'm settled now, my little boy is starting senior school here, and I've no immediate plans to go anywhere."

Miss Luke, who still films two make-up clips a week for her YouTube channel, will be signing her new book at Waterstones in the MetroCentre, Gateshead, on Saturday, October 10.
