CULT heroes from Sunderland AFC have been brought together to produce a new book.

Sunderland Cult Heroes focuses on 10 players who all earned themselves iconic status at the club.

It unearths a number of unusual stories never told before, by players who rarely gave interviews during their playing days.

Joe Bolton, Vic Halom, Kevin Arnott, John Kay, Chris Makin, Barry Siddall, LR Roose and Dick Malone are all featured, while Julio Arca and Nyron Nosworthy give exclusive interviews.

Due to be published in October, the book reveals which player once drove his car over the training ground late at night and churned up the pitch.

Readers will also discover whose family suffered in a World War Two concentration camp.

The book, priced £16.99, is available to order by calling (0871) 911 1973.
