TWO offshore companies have been fined a total of £1.2m after admitting safety breaches which led to the death of an oil worker.
Matthew Grey, from the town, was killed in January last year when he was struck by a metal clamp during a pipe-cutting operation 70 miles north east of Aberdeen, on the vessel Bleo Holm.

Colleague Norman Jackson, from North Shields, was flown to hospital with arm injuries.

Talisman Energy UK and contractors Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner Ltd, for whom the men worked, were fined £600,000 each at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
