A GIRL was taken to hospital after she was knocked down on a busy South Tyneside road today.
The 12-year-old was crossing Mortimer Road, in South Shields, at about 3.10pm when the accident happened.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the youngster was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital with a minor hip injury.
