Action call on bad tenants

CALLS have been made for council officials to get tough with nightmare neighbours.

The problem of anti-social tenants was discussed at the latest meeting of Jarrow and Boldon community area forum.

Coun Emma Lewell-Buck, for the Primrose Ward, Jarrow, said: “I feel some bad tenants get too many warnings and that we are too touchy-feely with them.

“I’d like to see more action, and less talking.”

Phil Render, an area team leader with South Tyneside Council, said: “We have to go through certain procedures, but we fully understand what the councillor is talking about.

“Often, it’s down to the quality of information we receive.”
