People heading for Saturday’s Jarrow Crusade 80th anniversary celebrations this weekend are being advised to plan their journeys carefully.

The event, a family fun day featuring a speech by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, takes place at at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow, on Saturday.

The event runs from 11.30am until 3pm.

Parking will be available off Dene Terrace, in Jarrow, and at Luke Lane Primary School, Marine Drive, Hebburn. Disabled parking spaces will be available inside Monkton Stadium gates.

Staff at Monkton Stadium will direct motorists to the event’s offical car parks, which will be managed by stewards.

Jarrow Metro station is a 15 to 20 minute walk from Monkton Stadium and Go North East buses 9 and 88 leave from Jarrow Bus station and take about ten minutes. Alight at York Avenue and Monkton Stadium is just a short walk from there.
