Mums and their little ones limbered up to get active as a yoga session for babies was held at a South Tyneside beauty spot.
Women and the tots were at Souter Lighthouse for the Yoga by the Sea event.
The event was organised by Kalma Baby franchise owner Vicky Thompson.
Vicky, 35, from Marsden, South Shields, who brings along a doll to the sessions to demonstrate how babies can take part, said: “We had a great turnout with babies, toddlers and juniors all involved, so there was a real range of ages.
“The mums and grandparents got involved and the sun shone too which it never usually does.”
Vicky, who is mum to Flynn, four, and Jesse, two, said there are physical and mental benefits to tots and new parents taking yoga classes.
“It helps mums and children to bond but also with post-natal depression too,” said Vicky, of Marsden, who is married to Karl, 37.
“It also provides the chance to get out and meet with other parents.
“You wouldn’t think of babies doing yoga, but it’s really good for their core strength and getting them into a sleeping pattern.
“It gives their muscles a real work out.
“It also helps with colic, reflux as well as digestive problems, stiffness and developmental mental delay.”
Vicky is currently holding classes in Marsden, Cleadon Park and Boldon.
