A CELEBRITY cast will pay tribute to former Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson to mark what would have been his 80th birthday.
The football legend, who also included Barcelona and FC Porto among his former clubs as well as a succesful stint as England coach, died after a fight with cancer in 2009.
But a star-studded list of well-wishers – including Newcastle players Steven Taylor, Shola Ameobi and Steve Harper, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, Stuart Pearce, Paul Whitehouse and South Tyneside’s own Joe McElderry, will be part of a celebration night at the Sage in Gateshead on Monday.
The mix of comedy, music and football, called Sir Bobby Robson – A Celebration, will raise vital funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Alan Shearer Foundation, and is being supported by Virgin Money.
Tickets for Sir Bobby Robson – A Celebration sold out within hours of their release in October.
