BONFIRE Night celebrations will go off with a bang as South Tynesiders are invited to two free displays.

Staff at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park in South Shields are hosting their annual firework celebrations.

The event, which is in partnership with the council, the Rattler and the Sundial pubs - both in Sea Road - will take place on Sunday, November 4.

The first display will be held at 6.30pm, with the main one following at 8pm, both will be behind the fairground.

Michael Sheeran, operator at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, said “We work closely with the council to have a fun and safe atmosphere and aim to provide a great finale of our season for all of our customers. With two firework shows, rides for young and old and some great offers, it is a great day and night for families to enjoy.”

Kids will also be able to enjoy plenty of spook-tacular fun between Monday, October 29 and Saturday, November 2 at Halloween in the Park.

Visitors, young and old will be encouraged to arrive in fancy dress with the chance to win free tickets.

Plus rides will be decorated while entertainment will include popular children’s characters. Little ones will be able to have their faces painted and hair braided and everyone can take part in an adventure trail to win some prizes.

Drive-In Movie nights have also been arranged for Thursday, November 1 to 3, at Bents Park in South Shields.

People will be able to park up and enjoy films including Monsters V Aliens, Shutter Island and The Devil Inside, at a cost of £20 per car.

On the night of the firework displays, seafront car parks will be open until 10.30pm and there will be additional parking spaces in Bents Park.
