CHILDS PLAY ... business women have joined forces to form the North East Early Years Activity Alliance (Neeya). Left to right, top row, are Theresa Nicholson, Rebecca Klein, Fiona Simpson and Abbie Smith, second row, Seren, Helen and Bethen Robinson Wright.

FIVE businesses are really relaxed after joining forces to offer activities – including yoga – for youngsters in South Tyneside.

The North East Early Years Activity Alliance (Neeya) is a culmination of local baby, toddler and child-related businesses.

The new group will ensure that parents can enjoy a variety of classes, from baby yoga to baby signing, swimming, dance and art.

Fiona Simpson, founder of ARTventurers, one of the firms involved, said: “The alliance is all about working together to ensure that awareness is high among parents. These classes are not just for children they are also for parents who want to form friendships with like-minded people.

“We started the alliance because we are all working from the same page. We are committed to providing a fun, safe, comfortable environment where children can develop their skills and creativity and have fun at the same time.”

The alliance will be celebrating its new union with a charity yogathon and family fun day on Saturday, August 9, at Mortimer Community Centre in Reading Road, South Shields.

It will raise money for children’s charities Tiny Lives, 4Louis, The Brave and Mighty Zack and Cure for CF for Charlie.

Fiona added: “The event will be a non-stop day of fun with fantastic prizes to be won, entertainment from all of the alliance and so much more.”

The alliance includes ARTventuers, Kalma Baby, Nemo Swimming, Ballet Bears and Baby Signing.
