FIT FOR CONSUMPTION ... Louise Scott and Carl Mowatt at Otto Restaurant.

A RESTAURANT which aims to bring a taste of Europe to South Tyneside has teamed-up with a fitness expert to deliver a new healthier menu.

Otto restaurant manager Carl Mowatt has joined forces with bootcamp trainer Louise Scott to create a range of alternative dishes which are fat and gluten-free.

The new menu will be launched with a Notte Bianco (white party) on Sunday, August 17, where people will have the chance to sample foods and its new clean cocktail range.

Mr Mowatt said: “The restaurant is going from strength to strength, with both returning clients and new people coming through the doors.

“Since we opened four months ago, we have enhanced our menu with a range of dishes people can choose from, including our new ál a carte menu.

“Due to demand we have also increased our opening hours both during the week and on a weekend.

“Now, with the help of Louise Scott, from Witness the Fitness personal training, we are able to provide our customers with a ‘clean’ healthy menu option.

“This means dishes will be fat and gluten-free and ideal for those who are in training.”

Otto restaurant, based in the Hedworth Hall in Dean Road, South Shields, opened its doors four months ago, offering people a taste of Europe.

The restaurant has also now taken over the catering for functions held at the venue.

Ms Scott, who launched Witness to Fitness Personal Training three years ago, said: “I was talking to Carl about clean foods and we thought it would be a good idea to create a healthier options menu for Otto.

“It’s all about making little changes to the ingredients to make them more healthier, for example using coconut flour to make the pizza bases rather than normal flour. This will also cater for those who are gluten intolerant.

“It’s just about giving people an alternative choice when it comes to eating out.”

Tickets for the launch party, priced £15, are available from Otto and include a three-course meal from the clean menu and a clean cocktail on arrival. There will also be entertainment on the night. The event starts at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available by contacting Otto on 456 3112.
