A WELL-known South Tyneside business is defying the current economic climate and opening a new showroom.
Snugfit, which is based in Franklin Street, South Shields, says it is continuing to go from strength to strength.
Since it first opened its doors 18 years ago selling conservatories, windows and doors, it has now branched out into bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and central heating.
The move has led to more orders and the opening of a second showroom so customers are able to see more of what the company has to offer – all under one roof.
The firm employs 35 people.
Showroom manager Peter Carrick said: “The business is doing really well, but a lot of people still don’t realise the full range of what we can do.
“That is one of the reasons why we wanted to open up a second showroom.
“All sides of the business are doing well, but we can always do better. We know the business and demand is there, it’s just a case of letting people know what we can deliver.”
Mr Carrick said a lot of the custom the company receives is from those who have had work carried out by them in the past.
He added: “We have a really good track record with our customers, with good satisfaction ratings, and we are hoping to continue on this by delivering high standards of workmanship in our bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens.”
The new showroom was officially opened by the Mayor of South Tyneside, Coun Ernest Gibson, who called in to congratulate the staff on their latest venture.
Coun Gibson said: “It’s great to hear of businesses in South Tyneside doing well – especially in this current economic climate.
“The new showroom is fantastic and really shows the variety of what the company has to offer its customers.
“But what is more special about this company is that they are also community orientated and over the years they have supported a lot of charity ventures, which have benefitted the people of South Tyneside.”
