METRO owner Nexus has released Christmas and New Year Metro, bus, ferry and rail times for South Tyneside.
All services will run throughout the festive period, with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
On Christmas Eve there will be additional Metro services until 6.30pm, when trains will be half hourly through Newcastle city centre, and hourly in other areas.
On Boxing Day, the Metro will operate a Sunday service between 10am and 6pm.
Normal service will operate between Friday, December 27, and Monday, December 30, and additional services will run on New Year’s Eve, until 7pm, then every 30 minutes until 11.15pm, when the last Metro will leave Monument.
There will be no bus services in operation on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
On Christmas Eve, the bus network will operate a Saturday timetable, but Arriva North East will operate a normal Tuesday timetable. All operations will run down services after 6.30pm, to finish by 8pm.
All bus operators will run a Saturday timetable on New Year’s Eve, with services run down after 6.30pm and finished by 8pm.
A Saturday service will run on Friday, December 27 and Monday, December 30, and normal service on Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29. Normal service will resume on Thursday, January 2.
There will be no Shields Ferry on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, but normal service will operate on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. A Sunday timetable will operate on Boxing Day.
There will be no Northern Rail services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Normal service will operate on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, with services run down from 8pm.
Normal service will resume on Thursday, January 2.
