TWO friends are hoping to prove they are a cut above the rest with the launch of their new business venture.

Carole Cable and Amy Tilson have joined forces to open Capelli Salon, in Hedgley Road, Hebburn.

The hair and beauty salon is the first business venture for Miss Tilson, 29, who is being supported behind the scenes by her friend, Mrs Cable, 49.

Mrs Cable, who has a background in business management, said: “I have known Amy for a number of years, and she is really passionate about her trade.

“When the shop become available, we sat down and spoke about it and thought ‘why not? – we’ll give it a go.

“Amy will be doing all the hair and beauty side of the business, while I will be looking after the commercial side of things.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and it also gives Amy a chance to run her own salon.”

The salon was opened officially opened by outgoing Mayor of South Tyneside, Coun Ernest Gibson, last Saturday.

Coun Gibson said: “I feel honoured to have been invited to the salon to officially open this new business venture for Amy and Carole.

“It’s great to see people achieving their dreams of owning their own business, and I wish both Amy and Carole the best of luck for the future.”

As well as hair styling for both women and men, the salon also offers a range of beauty therapies, ear-piercing, nails and spray tans.

Miss Tilson is a qualified hair and beauty therapist who has been working in the trade for the past 15 years.

She said: “I have always wanted to run my own salon, so I am very excited to be working alongside Carole and for the future.”
